These days, many paid courses don’t deliver what they promised. Many “gurus” will paint you a pretty picture only to realize that their content is mostly BS.

I’ve been to some of those. But some gurus really walk the talk.
Sometimes we get confused if they are a real deal because the reviews from Youtube and blogs usually belong to affiliates selling the course.
Some reviews are objective — I tend to watch those.

How do you choose a Paid Course?

This is my guide whenever I check one.

  • See their actual site/channel or proof of success
  • Read and watch reviews on Youtube
  • Search forums like Reddit or Quora reviewing their course.
  • Join their webinar where they provide value and sell the paid course.
  • Check if their teaching style works for you.
  • Look for a money-back guarantee
  • Check for bonuses

Bonus Tip: You can also search in google, just type “________ (Name of the Guru) + Scam”

Why do you want a Paid Course?

You are already confused about where to start with countless content on the web.

Or maybe you have goals you want to achieve, and you’re watching youtube to learn them, but you’re still confused.

You’ve already spent a significant amount of time googling and researching what you need.

Or like me, I’m afraid to make mistakes…. (which usually leads to social media banning your account)

We are the same….

This is why I’ve started to create a budget for my education fund, aka Paid courses fund.

In this post, I will share why I believe it’s worth your money to spend on credible paid courses rather than doing it DIY. I like free courses, but it comes with a cost.

#1 It saves you time

Have you heard that time is money?
This is true with learning. The time you spent researching, reading, understanding can be spent building your business.

You also have to consider the time filtering out sorting content from good ones and bad ones.

The faster you learn what you need, the quicker you can bring your product to the market. It will help you assess if your product resonates with your customer.

Paid courses are made to curate most of the information you need, so everything will be in one place. The accessibility and ease of use are some of its advantages.

Most courses are outlined that it’s easy to digest. It’s like they are guiding you on a step-by-step process.

I’ve experienced creating a youtube channel that many “youtube gurus” said would be profitable. After I joined this paid course by Matt Par, I realized that those types of vids don’t get monetized.

Imagine how much time and effort I would waste if I continued building it.

Sometimes, we get a return on investment not by making money but by avoiding mistakes.

#2 You’ll get access to a Community of Learners

This is my favorite benefit of joining a paid course with a strong community.

Most of the Paid courses have a Facebook group or community where you can interact with other students.

In this type of group, many people ask questions about their specific experiences. What I like about this is, You get to read their problems and learn from them. You get to read their successes, so you’ll get inspired and ask questions if something is really bothering you or you don’t know.

I’ve been to different Paid group communities, and it’s conducive for learning. There are topics discussed in the groups that are not covered in the courses. So you’ll get to learn those as well.

You will be connected with members who have the same goal as you. You can forge connections, friendships, and accountability groups with the members.

Sometimes, these paid courses will have free live webinars, challenges, and meet-ups, so that’s a bonus!

#3 They constantly update their content

Most of the Paid courses offer Lifetime access where you can still access the topic after a certain period.

Since most paid courses are watched on-demand, you can learn in your free time. This is a great way to take notes or apply the concepts right away.

Look for courses that update their content regularly, especially those in the digital marketing space, because the algorithm changes quickly.

Most of the coaches would be able to update their content because they are also practitioners of the course they are teaching. Ecom Coach would have an Ecom store. Youtube Coach would have a youtube channel.

You wouldn’t want a coach who only teaches “the concepts” because you pay for their experience so you can apply what works.

Most of them have gone to lots of trials and effort to see what works. This is also why it’s good to join a paid program that updates their content so you’ll be updated.

We just want to maximize our results by getting their knowledge.

#4 You’ll be able to see the big picture

Having a birds-eye view of what’s in store for you can motivate you to keep moving forward.

Like in the Youtube course, I’ve seen students go to the monetization section right away to see how it could bring income to them before they start on how to create content.

Most of the courses are organized by topics, so it would be easier to watch what you need. Since we are all on different journeys, starting from the start, even if you’re not a beginner is just a waste of time.

In Udemy, you can see the outline of the topics covered, so you’ll have a rough idea of whether or not you want to continue. As for other paid courses, they usually just share the highlight.

These mentors have been where you came from. Most of them have processes already, and you just follow them.

Before you Join any Paid courses, Remember these:

Make sure you are committed to finishing it, or it will be a waste of time and money.

Never buy courses for the sake of Knowledge. As Tony Robbins says, Knowledge is potential power. The real power is in Acting on what you learn.

Make sure you like how the coach teaches the content. It would be easier for you to absorb the content.

Most of us who’ve purchased courses follow these coaches for a couple of months or years and have seen they provide value. If you think the free courses aren’t enough anymore, it’s time to go for their paid courses.

Being mentored by the person you look up to can provide massive growth to you and your business.

Just do what you feel right

Although there are several advantages of joining a paid course like saving time, being part of a community, and updated content, It comes with a cost.

Since most paid courses can range from $97 to as high as $10,000, you have to think if it’s right for you.

Do the free courses first if you’re still looking for what skill resonates with you. Buy a paid course when you really want to upscale and save time.

One coach that offers free courses on digital marketing is Miles Beckler. This is his Youtube Channel.
